40 km against the wind!

We left in the early morning through the locks of the Robbegatsluis and there it was… the Waddensea!

The weather was clear and sunny, but the wind was coming from the front. We had a great peddletrip to Schiermonnikoog, the eastern part which you can only reach by boat.

It was peaceful and quiet on the beach, just some birds, lots  of sunshine and us! We didn’t have a  problem to spend  some time there, waiting for the right tide to continue to Noordpolderzijl.

This was the thougher part of the trip, after 18 km, another 20 to go! The wind still in our face, we puzzled our way trough the buoys and the strong currents. Some curious seals peared their heads out of the water to see what this strange big black seal was up to. That really encouraged us to go on. Finally we arrived on shore safely, after 40 km, at 8 pm. It had been a great day…
