A perfect day

No need to rush today, windforce and direction will be 4, south-west all day long. While we have a sunny breakfast at a picknicktable overlooking the sea, an early fisherman brings in his catch, lobsters!

Johannis, the camp site-boss, will accompany us for a few kilometers as we start our tour to Nykobing on the ilse of Mors. He shows us the seals and tells us of a danish kajaker who was bitten by a seal during his kajakrol and of the victorious Danish soccerteam in 1992.?

In the shelter of Venø it’s nice and easy paddling, wind from behind and no waves. But as we come to the end of the isle and both Johannis and we go our own way, the waves and the wind get on us at full speed. But it is not as wild as before and we enjoy the wind and the waves pushing us foreward.

It’s a perfect day and we head for another cape to round. Doing so, the tension of the Danish coast shortly crosses our mind, but we paddle steadilly and manage quite allright. As the wind comes from behind, we put up our sail and rush over the waves towards a huge bridge.

Suddenly a large fishingboat in the distance speeds in our direction. We change course and the ship also seems to change course. As the ship is getting near, Rick calls the fishingboat on the vhf/marifoon, but the ship doesn’t answer. So we change course again and paddle a steady course away as fast as we can. A good decision! To our surprise, a few minutes later we are called by the Dutch sailingvessel Watersnip, who has overheared our call. It’s nice to talk to the people of the Watersnip, who we met before in Thyborøn!

Then we pass the harbour of Nykobing. Around the corner is our goal for today, the Nykobing rowingclub, which invites us to spend the night at their clubhouse. A group of 10 ladies of the Alborg ladies rowingclub have the same idea, and share their wine with us. So we have a cosy evening and night! Before we go to sleep, we walk to the sea and enjoy the sight of Fur, our next goal. And the quiet of the evening…
